Designer Octavio Carlin and Agenda Magazine Editor/Jazz Entertainer Kaylene Peoples Pose at Octavio Carlin's BoutiqueDress at Octavio's Atelier TodayAs editor of a fashion magazine, choosing the right outfit for my career as a jazz entertainer is crucial. We’ve been keeping our eye on local LA designer Octavio Carlin since last year and he was just the right “fit” for my up coming themed 1960s acoustic jazz performance. Today stylist Eveline Morel and I paid a visit to Octavio Carlin’s Atelier in Los Angeles.  I was looking for something very specific for that performance.  There were so many choices, except I needed something that was sleek, fitted, conservative, yet sexy, and in my favorite colors.  We found just the right dress and it was exactly what I was looking for.

I’m doing 1960s acoustic jazz.  A lot of my favorite performers were from that era and they dressed in such a way that left it up to your imagination.  They didn’t put it all out there like we see today.  I was looking for that same kind of thing.  I had attended two shows of Octavio Carlin’s at Vibiana’s in Los Angeles during the Style Fashion Week LA Spring 2012 and the Fall/Autumn 2012 collections.  Both collections caught my eye as classy, understated, and sexy.  When Eveline Morel suggested we pay a visit to Octavio’s Atelier today, I was certain that I would find just the right look for my performance . . . and I did!

Octavio Carlin’s Atelier is located at 309 N. Kings Rd., Los Angeles, CA 90048.  Be sure to like him on Facebook.
