Fun show at H.O.M.E. Beverly Hills! Here is a recap – the band played a cool, straight ahead jazz intro, Kaylene did a few numbers and brought up a scatting partner, Gerald Thompson (He was amazing. Who knew he could scat like that). Then she brought her sis (Lisa Diaz) on stage who beautifully sang “Summertime.” During the band’s break, history trivia questions were asked – and wow her audience was soooo clever! She gave out a ton of high-end sponsored fashion gift bags. After the break, Jay Jackson (Pert Hapley) from Parks & Recreations wowed the audience with an exciting Blues song; and Forte Carter serenaded the crowd with a touching rendition of “Misty.” Kaylene finished the 2nd set with a few more tunes and ended with an improvisational version of nature boy, featuring her extremely talented personnel, later closing with her upcoming album’s debut of “Stormy Weather.” The evening’s proceeds went to help young teenage girls and their personal development. Let’s give it up for acoustic jazz! This event was sponsored by the Indie Hotspot. Personnel: Mark Hammond (guitar), Del Atkins (bass), Ryo Okumoto of Spock’s Beard (piano), and Moyes Lucas (drums).
